Various parts roughly shaped and sized for A-style Mandolin.

I’ve recently(within the past year or so), become interested in building string instruments.  This interest has grown to somewhat of an obsession now. I originally wanted to build a guitar, and still do.  I decided to start small, an A-style Mandolin built with just some scraps and easily accessible wood from my local lumber yard.  Here I will chronicle the process, including the successes and a couple failures of my first endeavor into lutherie.  I should mention that it is going pretty well despite the setback with the original neck/headstock errors.   Tim

Thanks for visiting.  I am currently working on getting this site updated with some of my best drawings and woodworking projects.  If you see something you’re interested in or want to know more about, please e-mail me at tim@artbytclark.com.  I will usually reply within a day or two.  I will also take commisions on both artwork and woodworking projects.

I never would have guessed I would find another creative outlet that I have as much passion for as drawing.  Was I wrong!  Woodworking, specifically building small to medium sized boxes such as keepsake and jewelry boxes are as much fun to build as they are to design. Most of what I include here will be those of my own design.

The artwork you will see on the gallery page are some of the best examples of my work.  I especially enjoy pencil and colored pencil and the spontaneity they allow.  Most of the time I work from photos and I would be happy to provide you with an original drawing of your favorite subject.  A classic car or motorcycle, a farm tractor, or perhaps your home.  I will post some pricing for basic sizes soon.  Prices are reasonable and based on size and complexity.  I would be happy to provide options to work within your project budget. Thanks for looking.
